Interval Classes (60/90/120 minutes)
These are intense interval workouts that are aimed at building power and improving cycling skills. Each week there are three new 60 minute workouts and one 90 minute workout. 120 minute course rides are also available. Over the course of the season, riders work on:
- aerobic threshold development
- anaerobic power development
- gearing skills
- pedaling skills
- hand positioning
- transitioning from sitting to standing and standing to sitting
- climbing
- descending
- sprinting
- steady power
Courses (2 Hrs)
These are two hour efforts where participants ride on pre-set courses. Riders choose their own pace.
Stage Races
Stage Races are a series of competitive (but fun) events spread throughout the season and across all Powerwatts centres, during which riders compete for points in different events. Points are added up for each event to award event winners, and then the points for all events are added up to award an overall winner.
Hill Climb Challenges
Riders compete across all Powerwatt centres. Riders aim to finish the course (or cover as much distance as they can) within a 10min time limit on a 3.5km mostly uphill course (+5/7/9% hills with -5% downhills between).
FTP Testing/Time Trial
This test determines the average power a rider can produce over the course of 20 minutes and is a snapshot of your fitness level. By measuring your FTP, you can track changes in your fitness. There are usually two FTP tests scheduled throughout the season.
